Emerge California
Our mission is to identify, educate and inspire Democratic women who want to pursue elective
office at the local and state level in California. Emerge makes a long-term investment in these
future leaders by honing their political skills; expanding their knowledge of local issues; and
connecting them with mentors.  

BWOPA (Black Women Organized for Political Action)
Our purpose is to activate, motivate, promote, support, and educate African-American women
about the political process, encourage involvement, and to affirm our commitment to, and solving
of, those problems affecting the African-American community.  

San Francisco Freedom School
The purpose of the Summer Program is to GET READY TO BE READY. In other words, we hope to
help participants become more effective agents of social change by studying the Civil ROghts
Movement as a case stusy of how social movements happen.

Teachers for Social Justice
Teachers 4 Social Justice is a grassroots non-profit teacher support and development
organization. Our mission is to provide opportunities for self-transformation, leadership, and
community building to educators in order to affect meaningful change in the classroom, school,
community and society.    

Usual Suspects
"Usual Suspects has been a source for San Francisco political junkies since 1995. Originally a blast
fax, discussing potential and real candidates for various offices in San Francisco, it evolved into a
web site in 1996. The site's name came from Claude Rains' immortal line in the movie Casablanca
- "Round up the usual suspects. "

California Black History
The premiere source for primary source information on the central role of African-Americans in
California history.


Special Olympics of Northern California
Volunteers are the backbone of our program. Currently over 14,000 people in Northern California
have discovered the rewards of working with a Special Olympics athlete. At present over 2500
Northern California residents have made the decision to enrich a Special Olympic athlete's life.

USA Track & Field
Today's youth athletes are tomorrow's champions! As the #1 high school and junior high school
participatory sport, track & field, long distance running, and race walking offer a variety of
competitive and fitness opportunities. Youth competitions takes place in 2-year age divisions, from
10 & under through 17-18.
